“Monday, Monday, can’t trust that day
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday mornin´ you gave me no warnin´ of what was to be
Oh Monday, Monday, how could you leave and not take me
Every other day, every other day
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
A-you can find me cryin´ all of the time”
-The Mamas & the Papas
Mondays, the day of dread. They seem to creep up on you just as you are enjoying your Sunday. The thought of ending the weekend and beginning a week of routine creeps into your mind and it ruins the fun. One would think that three day weekends would be a fine solution, but then our Tuesdays would then feel like Mondays. I digress…
So here we are, Monday morning.
Monday is a Mindset, friends.
You can Make your Monday or your Monday can Make You.
Let’s make Monday matter and make it a day to hit our reset button for the week.
Here’s the truth, I stink at resolutions for the year. I don’t have the energy for that kind of commitment.
A week, now there’s a manageable goal. I can make a to-do list for the week, because let’s be honest, I like to be able to mark things off the list. (There is something empowering about crossing things off. Fulfillment!)
So, I make my list for the week that includes some of the things that I will chat about with you later: faith, fitness, family, food, etc., etc.  Then I go through my morning routine. Now it’s time to bring on the week!
Hey Monday, I’m coming for you with Moxie and Motivation. Get ready!
I don’t have any magic tricks, but I can tell you what works for us each morning and I encourage you to find what works best for you. I always tell people to do what’s best for your family.
Dr. Suess said it best, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than you.” Whether are a morning person or a night owl, create your own magic routine and stick with it.
Morning Magic
1) I wake up at least an hour, sometimes two, before the chaos ensues in order to exercise, read, journal, and prepare for my people. I operate off of about 6 hours of sleep and I choose to read in the morning when the house is quiet. If I read in the evening there is a 99% chance that I will fall asleep when I sit still and open a book. So mornings it is!
Here’s what I am currently reading.

2) We have clothes ready to roll the night before and shoes at the door. (People lose their shoes. It happens multiple times daily. We work on putting them in a basket by the door to minimize the crazy.)
3) I set out a favorite book, activity, coloring page next to the breakfast I make for the little people in our house. This allows me about 10 minutes or less to dress in peace.
4) We are off to the races! Make it a good day!
